Friday Challenge: Stop the "sad sack" lunches.
On select Fridays I will pose a challenge to you, the reader, to improve your lives and careers in some small way. Do you accept the challenge?
Busy executives and professionals try to cram everything they can into a work day. We are constantly on the move and it's often difficult to slow down and take a breather, even when it's time to eat.
The "sad sack" lunch is when you scarf down your mid-day meal from your desk while trying to work at the same time. Often it involves some fast food you might have picked up. But, even if it's a salad, or something promising to be healthy, it's not healthy, overall, for you to do this.
Take a few minutes and eat your lunch. Do it somewhere other than your desk. If you are eating at your desk you are neither getting much work done, nor enjoying your meal. Plus, you run the risk of making a mess at your desk.
Find a place to eat where you can have a few minutes to gather your thoughts. Center yourself. Bolster your strength and energy for the rest of the day.
Your productivity in the second half of the day will be much greater if you take a separate lunch break than if you do the "sad sack" lunch at your desk.
