Friday Challenge: Learn something new during your commute.
On select Fridays I will pose a challenge to you, the reader, to improve your lives and careers in some small way. Do you accept the challenge?
Many executives have long commutes. Whether you live in the city and take a train to work, drive in your car from the suburbs or air commute there's a lot of time used just getting to and from work.
Put that time to good use.
Podcasts can be a great way to grow your knowledge base. There are podcasts on nearly everything imaginable today. They're not only educational, they can be quite entertaining. I have learned a tremendous amount from listening to podcasts.
I do love music but after a while it's the same songs over and over. It doesn't have to be directly related to your job. The things you learn grow your knowledge generally. I'm amazed at how often those things cross over to my professional work or inspire my work.
Mostly, it's just about using the time effectively. Commuting takes up a lot of our waking hours. Feed the brain.
