Friday challenge: Help a friend with a career move.
On select Fridays I will pose a challenge to you, the reader, to improve your lives and careers in some small way. Do you accept the challenge?
Changing jobs is a very stressful time for anyone, especially if you are in between jobs and don't yet have the next one lined up. Periodically, we all come across people who are in this situation.
Be a true friend. Help them out.
Most people find their jobs from connections they make via their personal networks. If you take a moment and reflect on your own career path there is a good chance you will see the same pattern in your career.
The person you help doesn't have to be a close personal friend. It might be a new acquaintance, or a friend of a friend. The help you provide need not involve a tremendous time commitment on your part. It might just be an introduction to someone at your company or to a friend who works at a place targeted by the friend in need. Maybe it's even letting your friend know of a service like ours that can give them in-depth, one on one guidance.
These acts of kindness come back to you when you are the one in need. When you encounter someone in this position, offer to help. It will make you smile.
