Friday Challenge: Commit to learning. When you encounter something you don't know, look it up
On select Fridays I will pose a challenge to you, the reader, to improve your lives and careers in some small way. Do you accept the challenge?
The older I get, the more knowledge accumulates in my head. It's one of the few benefits of aging. It comes from many years of actively seeking answers to things I don't know.
I learned a great tool from my wife. She was probably tired of me asking her questions all the time. Yes, she's very intelligent and well educated and likely had the answer. But, I was largely being lazy. The tool she taught me was to put it back on my plate. "You know who knows the answer? Google."
More than just making me accountable to finding my own answers it empowered me to realize the world of knowledge is at my fingertips. My smartphone and my laptop are rarely ever more than a few feet away from me. I don't have to live in ignorance about any subject.
This week, and forever more, when you encounter something you don't know, which could be useful, don't just ignore it and move on. Look it up. Learn. Add to your body of knowledge. You will be amazed how much you learn in a short period of time.
