Friday challenge: Build in time for the brain to relax.
On select Fridays I will pose a challenge to you, the reader, to improve your lives and careers in some small way. Do you accept the challenge?
Busy professionals go, go, go all day long. We squeeze in more tasks than we can complete in a packed, tightly scheduled day. Productivity rules the day.
By the end of the day we're wiped out. The brain is fried.
We need some down time for the brain to reset. If not, then we go to bed with our minds racing, still thinking about work. Good luck getting any kind of quality sleep with that routine.
Perhaps you can spend some time on a hobby, a home project, reading for enjoyment or watching a funny movie. There are many options from which to choose. It just needs to be a diversion for the brain to slow down.
This down time needs to be as much a part of the plan as your tightly scheduled day, or the routine of getting ready for bed. Even if it's just 30 minutes before you go to sleep work it in. You will be much more productive and rested the next day.
